Tips to make your homes smell fresh

All homes have a smell. Some homes have a very distinct odour whereas some smell divine! Did you know that scent is one of the first things people notice when they enter your home?

Ideally a clean home has no smell at all, however getting a home to smell like nothing is a difficult task. With all that happens in a home you eventually end up with a mixture of smells and aromas, from the food you cook, the cleaning solution you use, scents from your perfumes and smells from pets.

Having a fresh smelling home adds a lot to the energy and impression of your humble abode. Here are 4 tips that you could follow to get your house smelling fresh, clean and divine

1. Clean your garbage disposal

First things first, your garbage contains all the waste and throw away items that offer no use to you, therefore a mixture of all these items does tend to give off a horrible odour and set off all over the place. In order to avoid this, we suggest you segregate your waste into dry and wet. In addition to this you could also add lemon and orange peels to your disposal. These peels offer natural, chemical-free deodorising. You could also add dryer sheets into the bottom of your trash can  to absorb some of the odours. Also, make sure to take out your garbage every single day!

2. Vanilla in your oven

Home is smelling a little funky? Put some vanilla in your oven! This is a quick and easy way to induce a heavenly scent in your home. Just add a capful of some delicious smelling vanilla extract into an oven safe dish and bake for one hour and voila, your home smells like you just entered sweet paradise!

3. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets and curtains

Carpets and curtains are made from thick materials. These carpets tend to trap odours. Avoid stepping on carpets with footwear on and also remember to regularly vacuum your carpets and curtains. A simple hack you could use would be to sprinkle a little bit of baking soda or cleaning detergent mixed with a bit of water  or fabric spray on your carpets and let it sit for 15 minutes, before you vacuum. This helps to neutralise the odours that your carpet absorbs over time.

4. Use room fresheners and Bakhoors

Next time you want to make your whole house smell fresh, use home fragrance sprays and fresheners. This is the easiest and fastest way to get your home smelling fresh. These fresheners are made to give out a pleasing aroma to the home environment and mask odours, with the intent of creating a wonderful indoor experience. Bakhoor is an Arabic name given to scented bricks blended with natural, traditional ingredients, mainly wood chips that are soaked in fragrant oils and mixed with other natural ingredients. Birra bakhoors and air fresheners are a great way to induce a fresh and welcoming aroma to your home.
